 School Council

Our school has a student council that is elected by the pupils on an annual basis. The council seeks the views of all pupils and has a voice in all areas of school development. Miss Dykes co-ordinates the team of representatives and they attend a meeting once a fortnight to discuss whole school issues and ideas for events in school.

In the past, activities have included raising money for a Buddy Bench, organising charity events, setting up a team point system, choosing the playground markings for Key Stage 1 and 2 and choosing playground games equipment.

Meet our School Council

March 2019

What a busy month it has been! Two of our school council reps attended a Junior Road Safety Conference earlier in the school year and to promote road safety in our local area, the school council have held a model building competition. All of the school staff have been blown away by the effort and standard of models that were brought into school, a huge well done to everyone! The school council now have the hard job of picking their winners!

If you would like to see some of the models, take a look at the gallery page.

Red Nose Day was a great success, we managed to raise a total of £170.95. Well done to everyone who was involved!

February 2019

It's that time of year again where we start to think about Comic Relief. Did you know that Comic Relief are currently working with around 850 projects across the globe. They are helping children to survive and thrive. At the moment, our School Council are planning their big fundraising ideas for the day. Check back soon for an update!

November/December 2018

What a wonderful day we had raising money for Children in Need. All the activities organised by the school council were a great hit, especially the cake stall. Take a look at our photos on the gallery page of our website. Overall we managed to raise a fantastic amount of £236.56. Well done to everyone involved!

December was a quiet month for the school council with all the festive activities taking place in school! We are looking forward to working on lots of exciting projects in the New Year.

October 2018

After a very successful Harvest Festival and lots of donations for Whitby Food Bank, the school council have moved onto their next venture- Children in Need. The theme for Children in Need this year is 'Spotacular' and the council have voted to hold a non-uniform day, where their friends can come dressed in their spotty clothes. They have also organised a coin trail and a cake sale. All of these fantastic activities will take place on Friday 16th November, keep an eye out around school for the eye-catching posters. If you are able to make any donations towards the cake sale or coin trail, please contact the school council via Miss Dykes or the school office.

September 2018

Miss Dykes welcomed all of the children who had been elected onto the school council. The children discussed their role within school and elected a chair and vice chair. The new term has already presented the council with opportunities to involve themselves in activities to support the local community. They have been researching Whitby Food Bank and have asked their classes to make donations to the food bank at our Harvest Festival Celebration. They have produced posters to advertise our celebration and delivered these to local business in the village.
